Dear visitors, we are very glad that you have found our photo website. Welcome to our photo web „Fotosynci.cz“. Why the name “fotosynci”? It is simple, “synci” means guys in the Ostrava’s dialect, and in addition we like to take photographs. We are just two enthusiastic photo amateurs who try to look at the world through a camera viewfinder, each of us with his specific perspective. And what is the mission or meaning of this website? It is quite simple – we would like to share what we greatly enjoy ourselves and what was produced over the few years of photographing on our “photo trips” and various journeys and expeditions not only around the Czech Republic.  You can find here plenty of photographs from our native Ostrava and its surroundings, but you will also come across photos from “Antipodeans” or from Russia. You can see for yourselves if our efforts are successful or not. You can write your feelings, opinions or tips for other photographic locations to our guest book or send us an e-mail. We look forward to your reactions.

And now a bit about each of us:

Petr Šimčík

I was born in 1980, so you can easily count how old I am. I only started photographing after I bought my first digital camera - Minolta F200. That was at the end of 2003. It was just a tiny “soap box”, ridiculed by many, but it introduced me into photography, and I will always be grateful for it. I do not have any distinctive style in photography. However, it is architecture and the “industry” theme in general what appears most often in my viewfinder. But it does not mean I would never take a picture of the nature or avoid snapshots or photographs of anything interesting that comes to my mind. I am now using photographic equipment by Canon (DSLR Canon 40D + a series of lenses).

Robert Šimčík

I am the older one and therefore more sensible of the two of us. I arrived to the world in 1978 and started photographing also around 2003, with Canon PowerShot A70. I gradually realised that its functions were not sufficient for me and switched to a digital reflex camera, Nikon D70, which I have kept until now. I take photography as my great hobby and relaxation. At the same time, it is closely associated with my other interest, which is travelling. It is also why you can find at our website photos from various nature hikes as a contrast to industrial buildings and technical monuments from my native region.
